Playing Doctor.

(Fan fiction for Ephorox. Pairing is of his two OC's, Jacob and ME.)

"Other than that, I don't know what's wrong with him."

ME noticed his gryphon's lover tail was pale, not in the beautiful emerald the serpent wore. Monkey awoke that morning and saw Jacob as if he'd been buried alive and lived to tell the tale. He was pale, not the golden color he was used to. Sweat poured down his body, a cough between sentences whenever he spoke.

He had no idea of how to make heads or tails of Jacob's overnight affliction. The best idea, well only idea, would be to call his friend Osiris. Then again, the idea of the angel of death playing doctor didn't exactly paint itself in his head.

He called up the wolf, hoping there was some logical explanation for the illness. "Its best if I come over, I'm off work today." ME felt a rush of relief overcome him hearing these words, "Thanks, how soon can you get here?" ME asked, scared for his boyfriends life as it had only worsened since the morning. "I'm already on my way so... Five minutes, give or take."
ME was about to hang up until he heard his name being said through the phone again, "Yeah, I'm here."

"What color are his eyes?"

ME was confused by the question. He instinctevly replied with blue, but something told him to look and check. Monkey jumped off the bed, seeing that they weren't the color. The gryphon's gorgeous blue eyes were gone with two solid black orbs. "Don't stare directly into them!" Osiris said through the speaker, snapping ME out of his state.

"What the hell is going on, Osiris!?"

"I'll tell you when I get up there." The reaper answered. He then saw the door open to the hooded wolf who softly pulled ME out of the the gryphon's line of sight. "Just as I thought."
Osiris sat next to Jacob, looking into his eyes. "Eurydale's Tears." The wolf murmured, then chanted something in a cryptic sounding tounge which echoed within the room. A vial appeared in his hand, containing a vial of purple liquid.

"What is-"

"Hush."

ME did as he was told, and watched as Osiris carefully poured the contents onto Jacob's face, the liquid seeping into his eyes. Jacob twitched, the pain only mild from his eyes. The man pulled out a box of bandages, unrolling a bundle as he lifted the man's head from the bed.

"What are you doing?" Monkey finally asked as he watched the grim reaper cover the fabric over the victim's eyes. Osiris closed the hold as he inserted a pin to hold it in place. "Uh, what's going on?" Jacob finally spoke, startling his lover. ME looked to Osiris, face wanting answers.

"Jacob, for the next three days, you're going to need to keep this over your eyes." Jacob felt the bandaging tightly wrapped around his eyes, but nodded in silence. "Gryphons were once cursed long ago by Medusa, the maiden of serpents." ME sat down on the bed with them, asking, "What happened exactly?"

"When Medusa was cursed and turned into the monstrous serpent being she was, her ire was so strong that it cursed all things majestic and blessed. This was called 'Eurydale's Tears'. When a gryphon is afflicted with it, the process is rapid."

"Wait. What process?" ME interrupted. "Upon affliction, the gryphon shows symptoms of heavy sweating, pale in coloring, and eye discoloration. If the eyes turn completely black, they share Medusa's ability. Petrifying all men into stone. The only cure is the blood from the creature of name."

"Which was in that vial?" ME saw Osiris nod as he continued, "Luckily, Jacob was only near the point of full affliction. With this cure, the effects of the tears will ebb and diminish, allowing his body to become immune to the curse. However the recovery is only in process and needs time to finish."

"So for the next three days I'll be blind?" Jacob asked looking into the darkness. "Yes. Afterwards, you'll gain full coloration of eyes and body. Monkey, you'll need to stay here and keep him homebound." ME nodded, taking his boyfriend's hand, who smiled recognizing whose it was.
